The industry follower surmised that the shift in user base may have even contributed to The Pirate Bay gaining ground against other torrent sites and having the top spot as the largest torrent site. In the figures gathered by Torrent Freak, popular torrent download sites like TPB has a continuous uptick in website traffic, gaining as much as 67 percent additional users over their average, or at least several million daily torrent downloaders. This led to several million users shifting their searches to other torrent sites. Meanwhile, other websites like Torrentz also closed up shop. KickAss Torrents shut down around two months ago, after its alleged owner was arrested. However, even with increase in traffic, the popular torrent sites continue with an intermittent online presence due to crackdowns. With the shutdown of Kick Ass Torrents, other websites now experience traffic surges, particularly popular sites like The Pirate Bay and Extra Torrent. ![]()
